The art of producing rhythmical drum beats, and musical sounds using the mouth is the specialty of the artists known as beatboxers. Beatboxers exploit the same mechanisms observed in human speech production to create musical effects.Beatboxing is an artform that is more common in the hip hop culture, it originated in the 1980s.
Doug E. Fresh was one of its early pioneers, i recently interviewed Probeats, Zimbabwe’s very own human beat machine. This incredible human beat machine and his many capabilities continues to amaze us all. Probeatz is able to imitate many different sounds including those of a Dj turn tables, drums & even dubstep effects.

What was the first beat you learned?
I started beatboxing Billie jeans from Michael Jackson.
Is your family musical?
Not really, but my Uncle used to sing in a recording church Choir that was called the anointed vocals before he left for the UK.
How did you hook up with JIBILIKA
I met Plot Mhako at a local talent show i was participating in.
Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?
I admire David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Dj Mustard and Take Fizzle because they are good beatmakers.
What have you done to support diversity in your art?
Well i do beatbox to local sungura songs… I have done a gospel song with Firm faith,which made it as a hit in 2013 and i do in cooperate dance with it and most of all i have managed to commercialize it,because i perform at different gatherings, i get booked and still get paid for it,because it just started as something that was looked at in small value.
Do you get nervous before a performance.
Yes lol ,just like any other normal artist i do

How do you react to criticism?
I don’t react to criticism kkk,because most people do not really understand my art.
How often and for how long do you practice?
I practice for 2 to 3hrs everyday
How do you balance your art with other obligations?
