For artists now is a good time as any to get your work out. In these interesting and unpredictable times sometimes all you need to get through the day is a conversation with someone. Being a fan of good conversations, Psalm X is like Micheal Chiunda speaking to me and telling me the journey he has gone through and is still to go through.

Special days always bring special songs, last week saw Soko Matemai releasing a jam for the season and feeling. Mine featuring Dreal Nova came out on the 14th and for those with special someone it must have fit in perfectly with your plans
Dreal Nova comes in with the sweet melodious vocal mix at the beginning of the song. It’s a satisfactory way to set the mood of the song and it keeps getting better as we move into the verses.
Soko Matemai talks of his girl and how she gave him the chance and that since she is his he never wants to ruin it because the levels of understanding are just at the right moment. That verse speaks love and now imagine that with Ikonik cream’s production and there you have Mine.“In a word full of trends you remain a classic” is my favourite line in the song. Don’t ruin love.
This is Soko Matemai second song of the year and with this pace, it means we are going to have at least 10 more jams. Definitely setting the volume to bho.
The heavy machine hitmaker Bryan K is back at it. Seeing him perform live a few years ago was nice as well. It’s been years since then and he has released a number of tracks to date. His latest offering, a track featuring Harare hoochie hitmaker Crooger is called Taungamirai. The track comes complete with the visuals as well.
I must commend the efforts of directors in actually putting some active effort in making these videos actually worth the watch. I’ve noticed, for some reason, most of these videos have something burning- maybe it’s a director’s signature or it’s to show that the video is flames/lit. Simdoc please stand up.
The track entitled Tungamirai which I translate to “Lead the way” is basically asking for guidance and direction. It’s fitting in this time where people are always on the line and it is so easy to forget your values just to make a quick buck. It’s hard not to politicise these tracks but this is the purpose of music. To speak on issues and help people find strength in an artistic and not so inciting way so you don’t disappear.

I’ve always thought that being a DJ was just a matter of having access to songs and pressing next. I found out the hard way that it’s not that easy when some handed me the aux cable. One of Zimbabwe’s hottest DJs accredited with pushing and changing the game Ray Dizz just dropped visuals for his song “Forget your Ex” the video features Izzy Youngster and was directed by Chris Magna Shoca.
Zimbabwe’s Trap invasion: Mcy Ghost – ZAMIRA ft Briss Mbada x Stilo Magolide 75% of cars playing loud music is playing a combination of house and trap music. Zimbabwe’s rendition of trap music is growing. MCY Ghost dropped a track that is about a girl named Zamira and the track features Briss Mbada and Stilo Magolide.
The visuals just like any trap song cars, women and people having a good time. It was hsot by Chris Lights films. Flexing is an art and art is an abstract with no real definition and so I cannot define this as well as I may want to. the track speaks of money spent, deals had and girls “I’m loving the hoes like a farmer”

Hillzy is an artist who needs no introduction. He is one of the few Zimbabwean musicians who release music frequently. Just a few weeks ago he dropped ‘Chikuru Kufema’ with Drew the MC. Hillzy keeps sharing his gift of music with his frequent releases.
Some more dedicated than others for sure! Hillzy has been doing that. This past weekend he dropped “I’m Here (Silent Treatment)” which is a rendition of a song he wrote in 2014.
As the name alludes the song follows a guy in a rather tense relationship as he tries to prove his worth and he is there for the girl. Love is a rollercoaster as most would say. Hillzy goes deep in his love songs with hooks to melt for as most ladies say.
“After every fight we’ve had, I’m here”
The track was produced under his Mr Masinh production banner. More is better and gets more appreciation I believe. Keep giving us more music Hillzy.

Zimbabwean Hip-hop artist, stunner comes back amid the controversy that the country is in with a track entitled “Zvirongwa”. He takes a look at the things they had hoped for in his career and life in general.
The track is a reflection of how we make plans for the future but because of the situations beyond our control, we are found in sticky predicaments. The track is full of life examples, the things we see in the streets and think in our minds.
The video features scenes of people going through life and seeing things like price increments and trying to make a living.
Time and time again people have called him the next big thing. Time and time he has proven he is part of the future. Even if we put the music to the side, his fan engagement is really impressive.
His new single with Drew the MC is a good cup of coffee on a Monday morning. It gets you ready for the week and screaming out TGIM. It is a pick me up song that encourages us to keep working.

AyTee released 25 4 life to celebrate his 25th birthday on the 7th of March.
The music consists of Afrobeats, RnB, Hip Hop and Lo-Fi music for you to have a variety of music from the Artist/Producer.
The EP is a celebration to the Life introspective view of AyTee and has a wide spectrum of musical elements including singing, rapping and his, now, classic Tag “Ndati”
No more is a track that speaks to those that have had enough. You know that ex you keep going back to when they comment on status but aren’t willing to fully commit. That’s the one.
The video is pretty simple and laid back as it follows a group going through the streets having a jolly good time as Aytee goes through his lines.

Drew the Mc dropped a snippet of his upcoming track featuring Hillzy and Beatsmith. It’ almost a year since the artist released his Guardian of the Garden project and we are very excited.
For those wondering, Drew the MC is a Zimbabwean born, Cape town based rapper. He is also a Zim Hip Hop Awards winner for his work in the high school group, Ovadose boys back in 2014. Drew the Mc has worked with Beatsmith before on Guardian of the Garden and they also worked together on the song Bag ft Lil Def. This will be his first track featuring Hillzy though
In the snippet, we hear a fast-paced Drew the Mc flowing on a verse. Hillzy then comes in with some vocals that are of high spirits and hope. It speaks to those fighting and asking you to keep on keeping on.
He says,
