If you are anything like me then you were probably wondering what was next for Gemma; I mean, her last hit “muGarden” is certainly not on our to forget list. I don’t know if its a calculated plan of action or just building upon the momentum, but what I do know is that Gemma’s “Gara Pano” slaps hard. After listening to it most of us can officially confirm that we are hooked and someone needs to come up with a name for us, her fans, ASAP.
“The gemstones” perhaps?
One thing we’ve learned from “Gara Pano” is that there’s so much one can do with the original Zimbabwean sound; you could bring it into the modern age as Gemma did, the options are limitless. The production is multifaceted; you know it is an Afro-pop song, but can still hear some electronic overtones and concomitantly appreciate that its a beat from Zimbabwe.
It is one oddly gratifying piece of work, especially coupled with Gemma’s vocals. One of my hopes is that whoever hears this ballad doesn’t sleep on the electric guitar mastery and the general chillax vibe.
