Most of us are found floating in vehemence at ungodly hours, TheLastLetter’s candid dramatization of events that occur over a 15 minute period (on the same couch) will always be relatable.
TheLastLetter’s 3AM is musical proof that to not relive every single second of tragedy is a betrayal to the pain that will always demand to be felt. Her vocals are a velvety fragrance oil (with a sprinkle of grit) doused over a hard-knocking instrumental by Zino D and Lylo Da Disk Jockey. A combination that’s sufficient to carry her through not all but ‘most’ of the stages of grief – since there’s no trace of acceptance anywhere on the song. However, the song is uncomplicated and calm (as any song titled 3AM should be), and it’s definitely somewhere on the groovy spectrum. Who’s to say what would’ve become of it had it been coupled with a powerful hook?
If anything, this song is an opioid for the pain that comes with waiting for her to release her long awaited EP – it doesn’t really erase the pain, but it sure makes the waiting slightly easier
