Although we’d love to hear less of the infamous and overused trap snare, this is what we are happy about; the joint has no business whatsoever with a repetitive and monotonous chorus (which I assume, is always an attempt to produce something catchy). But then again a chorus (of any form, really) would’ve been nice – not all of us will be able to bust these bars on karaoke night, no matter how hard we’d try.
However, if you’ve watched the music video, you must’ve noticed where it was stated “a compilation of bars and visuals”, something which was definitely served (no false advertising there). Howbeit, I can’t help but feel like the track was targeted at a much narrower audience, which is a not-so-bad thing. I mean rap (particularly the trap sub-genre) is an art form that has a solid following.
Not only did Cyril Swayz serve bars, but he also served them raw, cold, with a dash of intelligence – the only way bars should be served. The rhyming was also easy on the ear and it will not go unnoticed.
