#Zimbabweanlivesmatter might’ve only begun trending a few weeks ago but our lives have always mattered. We have always been deserving of admission through the doors that never opened. Deserving to see the ordinary things of life, not as perks of wealth, but as ordinary. We’ve always been worthy people and worthy people, we’ll remain.
Holy Ten’s “Ndaremerwa” requires only one thing of the listener; that you actually listen. Not because it’s beaming with new information but because you’re bound to interact with your own life story in different lighting. “Ndaremerwa” speaks nothing but the truth, a truth so irrefutable that it is impossible to ignore the song. Like the people it represents, the song demands to be heard. And like the people it represents, its day is coming.
The impact this song has on a Zimbabwean heart is an entire momentum to be reckoned with. Better yet, the impact of that “dai matogara guva makachera” line!
While its undeniable that the message of the song is its most vital element, ignoring Holy Ten’s rap skills, Zone98’s production and BrandonSSKD’s video would be a revolting injustice.
