2020 has presented itself as proof that it actually never rains, it only pours. The rate at which we’ve been losing all hope is proportional to the rate at which the misfortunes have been succeeding each other – and we’re all aware of how rapid this has been.
We’ve often been told that when it gets too hard to stand, kneel. And that’s exactly what this song is all about.
Picture this: You’re confined in a poorly ventilated small and darkroom, and you can already feel the air grow heavier and your vital organs giving up, one by one. Liver. Brain. Heart. Your anxiety is peaking. The walls are closing in on you. And chaos and dismay are enfolding you. That, ladies and gentlemen, is 2020 put in words.
On our behalf, Takura is imploring The Omnipotent to commit his unlimited resources to deliver us. ‘Mufaro’ is powerful, relevant, and very very gentle on the ear. The reminder that “joy comes in the morning” couldn’t have come at a better time. Takura certainly did not take that recognizable direction that we’ve grown to love him for. Instead, he brings something new and refreshing with this song; the jazzy and reggae-ish rhythms blend together well in the production, creating a sound that’s very appropriate for the message he’s conveying. The lines are nothing short of profound and we couldn’t be more pleased with him!
