“I’m losing my marbles” is the kind of thing your neurotic friend would say, and you’d always be quick to wave off their insistent whining. However, unlike your friend, Whiny McWhinison, Obi Davids’ verses are surged by Wolf-Bridges & Garth The Producer’s crisp and somewhat sulky instrumental; giving the whole piece an uncomplicated vibe that makes it appropriate for a Sunday afternoon.
In lesser hands, I can imagine Obi Davids’ style of singing/rapping landing as confusing. However, the rest of us here at Music Aficionados Inc are stanning. The way he alternates between the low notes, intermediate notes and somewhat high notes is maddeningly interesting.
While a handful of us cannot relate to the relationship/situationship described in “Marbles”, we can certainly relate to good music! Especially the kind that demands we “lose our marbles”.
