‘No Cap’ is the win we’ve been in pursuit of. The Last Letter makes a plunge into emotional waters and she’s not coming up for air till all her grievances are resolved. Like many of us, she’s frustrated by all the games and inconsistencies in these situationships, or dare I say, entanglements. But while the rest of us choose to sit back and take it like a man, she’s not about to leave any stones unturned. And she does it all beautifully, over a dark and mysterious production, carefully coaxing her amazing vocals and hitting those high notes towards the end.
When she breaks down into a mid-tempo rap that takes you by complete surprise on the second verse of this song, the real question becomes; “what can’t she do?” And it all makes sense because her tone has completed morphed into something of an angrier nature, revealing her unfuckwithability in an unbeatable light. Her bars are certainly beyond passable, but it’s her singing voice that takes it home.
Are we irrational for demanding that TheLastLetter stays on this wavelength for life?
