This past weekend had a certain batch of a 100 artists sitting on the edge with their fingers crossed. The release of Mr Eazi’s Empawa top 10 was about to dawn on us. #Empawa100 is an initiative by Lagos to London star Mr Eazi which seeks to grow the artistry and brilliance of music from Africa.

(In Zimbabwe it had an extra wave because Just around the time it was announced Mr Eazi had come in for his performance at the Ammartia Ignite, Ammara Brown concert.
From the whole of Africa, Zim had its fair share of artists in the #Empawa100. Names of artists who had made it include rap artist H3nry, Hanna, producer Beatsmith, the songstress with the killer voice, Cleo and the multi-talented Union 5 just to name a few.
Music is one of the most diverse arts out there and I bet the selection process to get the 100 was hard. The top 10 was probably hella harder. The top 10 are going to cape town to work on their music with assistance from mentors in the game and Mr Zagaddat himself. Without a doubt, after this, you’ll definitely set up to blow up.
Union 5 is the only Zimbabwean, who made the top 10. Much props to the young lad and keep doing you. This multi-talented lad is a rapper, producer, beatboxer and all around stand up guy.
He has made so much music at SUCH A YOUNG age already, he is 21 this year. He is the winner of Dreamstar 2016 (ZImbabwe’s version of Idols). Late last year in September he dropped a mixtape entitled Hype which had quite some interesting tracks like “Hona Magetsi.” Last year he also performed at the Nasty C, Change a Life concert with other local acts like Takuara and EX-Q.
Social media has been abuzz with praise and congratulatory messages for this achievement. Be sure to get on and tell him what you think. Everyone is rallying behind him to take this thing and bring it home, and so we should all go on and Empawa him (no pressure at all)
