King 98 will have to out rap more than half of the music industry for him to be somewhere in the vicinity of his goal of being a B.I.G reincarnate. After listening to “Twisted”, we are not ones to dismiss this ambition; the song attests to his ability to grow; and also, his underdog spirit is not lost on us.
An instrumental is always an indispensable piece of the whole sonic puzzle, and ‘Twisted’s instrumental is a good place to start. The recurring hymn-like undertones sweeping under the bass are oddly gratifying, and the whole thing is something worth writing home about. This sick-as-a-dog beat retains a serious level of chill and almost makes up for the slightly repetitive essence of the chorus, which of course, can be overlooked.
King 98’s verses are what you’d call an acquired taste, but it’s a taste that is not hard to acquire. the bars are kind of preoccupied with youth and that might be one of his endearing features. A new king 98 video always slaps better than the previous, and if he retains his current rate; who’s to say what will become of him.
